This $27m residential project entailed the complete construction of a modern, multi-level, aged care facility in Chelmer. The facility is a purpose-built ageing-in-place home inside a faithfully restored 1890s mansion - consisting of 120 single rooms and topped with a magnificent rooftop club lounge.
While the building required strictly compliant assets to cater to the specific needs of the residents, there was still flexibility to showcase architectural creativity in many facets of the structure. Safetylyne was contracted to produce flawless installations for the high-end facility, fabricated to their unique specifications.
Products supplied on this project included:
- The Main Stair; a towering assembly of polished spotted gum, black painted steel and laminated glass balustrade
- External handrails in stainless steel
- Powder coated batten screening to car park area - Glazed balustrade to roof deck
- Fritted glass balustrade and frosted privacy screens to balconies
Although mostly a typical construction development, the architectural stairs that were the centrepiece on this project posed unique challenges for both Safetylyne and the client teams.
To ensure the best installation experience, the stairs were manufactured in sections at Safetylyne’s warehouse. Once completed, protectively wrapped, and trucked to the location, each section was crane lifted through the roof of the facility, where they were then pieced together to complete a fixed, unique architectural feature.
The client’s requirements included:
- An innovative and efficient plan to install an architectural staircase in unique site conditions
- Finished products aligned to the building owner’s extensive specification and aesthetic standards
- Strict adherence to schedule, budget and project documentation
From design to installation, this project illustrates how Safetylyne successfully creates custom solutions that can work for your project and your team.
